Art, interiors, and a personal point of view.
I’m Nicole Pullen, an artist and interior stylist with over 25 years of experience across the interior design and home furnishings industry. I studied General Design at Humber College before continuing my studies in Interior Design at Sheridan College. My career has taken me through many sides of the creative industry, including retail, wholesale, textiles, furniture, home furnishings, photography and set decorating.
My work brings together two creative worlds that have always felt connected to me: art and interiors. My background in design has shaped the way I see colour, texture, composition and scale, and those same elements naturally influence my artwork.
I’m interested in how art and interiors work together to create a space that feels personal. A painting can shift the feeling of a room, while the right surroundings can give a piece of art a completely different presence.
My approach is thoughtful but relaxed. I like mixing colour, texture, old and new, and pieces that bring something unexpected to a space. I’m less interested in following a particular look and more interested in creating something that feels right for the person who lives there.
Why I Paint
After a life-changing loss, painting became a way for me to reconnect with creativity and find a sense of peace in the process. Creating art is where I get to explore, work therapeutically.
Painting gives me the freedom to experiment with colour, texture, shape and movement without having to follow a formula.
Some pieces begin with a loose idea or a particular colour. Others develop as I work. I like the process of letting a painting change and finding something unexpected along the way. My work is influenced by interiors, nature, travel and the everyday details that catch my attention. I create artwork to be lived with, enjoyed and interpreted in your own way.
My Approach to Interiors
A home should feel like you.I don't think a home needs to be perfectly finished or follow a particular style.
The most interesting spaces usually have a mix of things: pieces you love, things you've collected along the way, something unexpected, and plenty of room for your personality to come through.
My role is to help bring those elements together, whether that means rethinking what you already have, introducing new pieces or finding the artwork that pulls a room together.
Good design should make your home feel better, not just look better.
